Dear Editor,

On July 27 and 28, the M&M Great Lakes Sport Fishermen Inc. held their 39th annual Brown Trout Derby, and what an event! Possibly the best leaderboard ever, with the article in Tuesday’s paper summing up the weekend very nice — good job Brian Bell.

Again, we got tremendous support from area merchants and industries, with cash donations, prizes and ticket sales. Many volunteers worked tirelessly all weekend in the heat and humidity to keep everything running smoothly, from setup to teardown. American Legion Post 146 did their usual great job with food and beverages, as our partnership continues to flourish. Menominee Public Works and Auxiliary Police provided support, as did the WDNR (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources), and the USF&WS (United States Fish and Wildlife Service). Because so many folks buy fishing and raffle tickets, we can continue our many other projects, and we most sincerely thank all of you for your support and encouragement and look forward to next year’s derby on Aug. 1 and 2.
