NADEAU — The annual John Laurin Memorial 5K Run/Walk took place at Fadroski Park in Nadeau May 25. The run/walk had more than 120 participants of all ages. The event originally started in 2005 with the Carney-Nadeau TLC 4-H club to honor John Laurin, a club members father, who had passed away from cancer in 2004. Each year a new loved one’s name, lost to cancer, is included on the shirts as well. This year the event raised $2,900 for the American Cancer Society for research.
The top overall male runner was Seth Polfus of Hermansville with a time of 19.56 minutes and the top female runner was Jada Kuntze of Daggett with a time of 24.33 minutes; both received trophies. Top three runners and walkers in many categories received medals. All entrants received T-shirts. The people who put on the event would like to thank all the sponsors, Joe and Carol Linder, for use of their land, all the volunteers and all the participants.
