MENOMINEE — The Menominee junior varsity football team couldn't dig out of an early hole and lost to Escanaba 21-13 Thursday.

The Maroons fell behind 21-0 at the half, but scored twice in the fourth quarter.

John Boucher scored the first touchdown for the Maroons on a 5-yard run.

Hunter Goldschmidt found Mack Hanson for a 51-yard touchdown with about a minute to play.

Goldschmidt was 9-18 passing for 126 yards, and Hanson caught two passes for 82 yards. Hanson also had an interception on defense.

Brock Barrette was Menominee's leading rusher with 67 yards on 19 carries. Keagan Bergstrum had five solo tackles, three assists and two sacks for the Maroons.

LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. — Marinette's junior varsity 2 football team crushed Little Chute 41-0 on Thursday.

Dalton Kaster had two touchdown runs and he returned a fumble 55 yards for a TD. Gavin Thiry scored on two touchdown runs and Dylan Poquette also had a rushing TD.

Thiry kicked three of four extra points. Addison Fitzgerald caught two passes for 35 yards from Ty Kretz and Max Heckel had two receptions for 25 yards.

Thiry had three sacks and Logan Ryan, Bryan McClurh, Nate Stewart, Poquette and Kaster had one sack apiece. Kretz and Poquette each had an interception. Logan Riopelle recovered a fumble. Stewart and Dominic Paradiso each forced a fumble. Thiry, Poquette, Kaster and Logan Rodriguez met at the quarterback for a safety.
