Marinette Legion JVs top Southwest

GREEN BAY — The Marinette Legion junior varsity put it all together for a 6-2 victory over Green Bay Southwest on Tuesday.

Kyler Kruse pitched a complete-game gem and he was backed by a defense that turned four double plays. Kruse started a 1-6-3 double play, second baseman Sam Gressel turned a line drive into a twin-killing, and the keystone combo of Gressel and shortstop Aaron Tormay turned 4-6-3 and 6-4-3 double plays. Jaden Werner was the first baseman.

Kruse allowed no earned runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Brandon Eick went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Wil LaLonde was 2 for 4 for Post 39. Trevor Bloch was 1 for 3 with a two-run double and Tormay went 1 for 3 with a double. Kruse hit a two-run double off the fence in the seventh after Werner had singled and Tormay doubled.

Marinette improved to 5-3 overall, 4-2 in conference play.
