Hornets' outing rescheduled

MENOMINEE  — The second annual Menominee Hornets golf outing has been rescheduled to June 29 at North Shore Golf Club.

The cost is $60 per person and $240 per team  and includes green fees, cart, dinner and raffle prize tickets. There will be 50/50 raffles, a skins game and prizes. There is a limit of 30 teams. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start.There are three hole-in-one prizes, including $10,000 in cash, a Pioneer side-by-side and a lawn mower. Marinette JVs win twice
MARINETTE — The Marinette junior varsity legion team won an extra-inning thriller against Bay Port 10-9 on Tuesday.
With one out and the bases loaded, Kyler Kruse smashed a liner to second and Tyler Fayta came in on an error to score the winning run in the 10th inning.
Fayta and Trevor Bloch drew walks to lead off the 10th and Jaden Werner drilled a single to left to load the bases before Fayta came around to score.
Marinette trailed the Pirates 8-1 through the first five innings before scoring five runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to tie the game.
Fayta also earned the mound win for the junior varsity squad, tossing the final two innings and allowing just two hits.
Mason Risner, Fayta, Werner and Brandon Eich each had two hits and Aaron Tormay had a triple to lead Marinette.
Kruse started the game on the mound for Marinette and threw the first four innings with a strikeout. Werner pitched the next four innings and had two K’s before Fayta finished it off.
Post 39 also defeated Pulaski 9-1 Wednesday.
Marinette scored six runs in the third inning to break the game open.
Werner, Tormay, Kruse, Brandon Eich and Mike Brelawski drove in runs in the third.
Bloch had an RBI single in the fifth, and Risner had a run-scoring knock in the sixth.
Fayta and Bloch had two hits each for Post 39.
Fayta got the win, throwing a complete game with five strikeouts and one earned run allowed.
GridIron holding sign-ups Sunday
The Marinette GridIron Club will be holding early sign-ups on Sunday, June 25th and Sunday, July 9th from 5pm - 7pm in the commons area at Marinette High School.

Tri Cities Championship planned
The Tri Cities Golf Championship will be held Saturday and Sunday in a 36 hole stroke play format. Saturday’s round will be played at Riverside Golf Club and Sunday’s will be at Little River Country Club. The entry fee is $50.
Golfers will be placed in their respective flights after Round One and there are separate trophies for both Senior Division winners. The Senior Division is anyone ages 50-64 and the Super Senior Division is 65 and older.
