CARNEY — The date has been set for the 7th annual Carney-Nadeau “Early Bird” Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The tournament will be held the weekend of Dec. 1-2 in the Carney-Nadeau High School gym.

This year’s tournament will be a 12-team, double elimination format with the winning team being awarded a first-place trophy and t-shirts. Second place will also receive a trophy and t-shirts and third will receive a trophy. There will be a separate award for the tournament’s most valuable player.

The games will be two-20 minute halves with running clock except the last two minutes of the first half and last three minutes of the second half. There is a five-minute halftime and 25-point mercy rule will take effect with less than four minutes remaining in the games. 

The entry fee for the tournament is $100 and should be sent, with a roster, to Paul Polfus at Box 55, Carney, MI, 49812. Call-in registrations can be made by calling Polfus at (906) 639-2866 (home), (906) 748-0184 (cell) or (906) 639-2171 ext. 116 (school). The entry deadline is Nov. 27.
