CARNEY-NADEAU — The Carney-Nadeau volleyball team continued its strong season by defeating Rapid River in 3-0 on Thursday night.

The Wolves (8-2 overall, 4-0 conference) didn’t have much trouble with the Rockets in games one and two, winning each by a score of 25-12 but Rapid River put up a fight in game three.

Carney-Nadeau led 18-8 but Rapid River used some hot serving to get itself back in the game. The Wolves were able to gut out a 25-23 victory to seal the deal.

“They were red hot serving in the third game after we jumped out to that lead,” Wolves coach Steve Kedsch said. “We had a few unforced errors and couldn’t get a lot of solid points in the middle of the game, but on the game winner we got a good pass, good set and Taylor (Kedsch) hit a hard kill for the win.”

Kedsch led the team with eight kills on the night and also had three digs, Alanis Harris had six digs and three aces, Talisha McCollough had team-highs in assists (14) and digs (8) and Ashlynn Hanson had seven kills.

“Our schedule towards the end of the season starts to get tougher and tougher but that’ll help us out when we get to districts, so we’re ready,” Kedsch said.

Carney-Nadeau travels to Big Bay on Monday for its next match.
