WAUSAUKEE — A big first half propelled the No. 1 seeded Wausaukee boys basketball team to a 66-39 victory over No. 8 Goodman/Pembine in the WIAA division five regionals on Friday.

The Rangers knocked down 11 3-pointers and shot 14-of-15 on free throws to take a 30-19 lead at halftime. Goodman/Pembine’s Jacob Kessell was the only Falcons player to reach double-digit scoring figures, tallying 10 points, as Wausaukee outscored Goodman/Pembine 36-20 in the second half to secure the win.

Tristin Pollard led the Rangers with 20 points while Brandon Shigouri and Hayden Renikow each dropped 13. Backing up Kessel was Boone Larison with nine points, Kevin Strietzel chipped in five while Austin Sheets and Ryan Erickson both scored four.

Wausaukee hosts No. 4 Gibraltar tonight at 7.

Xavier 97, Peshtigo 56

APPLETON — A game-high 36 points by Cade Tackmier wasn’t enough to lift the No. 6 Peshtigo boys basketball team past No. 3 Xavier, as the Bulldogs suffered a 97-57 loss in the WIAA division three regionals on Friday.

The Bulldogs shot 36 percent from the field but were only able to sink 2-of-17 triples while the Hawks knocked down a robust 63% of their shots while scoring 17 points off 14 Peshtigo turnovers. The Bulldogs outrebounded Xavier by a 31-30 margin and registered six more second-chance buckets, but the Hawks outscored Peshtigo by 21 points in the second half to put the game on ice.

Behind Tackmier’s monster game was Adam Bauman with nine points while Breyden Demmith chipped in 5. Trent Twombly paced Xavier with 17 points, John Bunks added 14 and Theo Douglas and Cal Mares each scored 10.

Shiocton 70, Crivitz 62

SHIOCTON, Wis. — A second-half collapse doomed the No. 6 Crivitz boys basketball team to a 70-62 loss to No. 3 Shiocton in the WIAA division four regionals on Friday.

The Wolverines led by 11 points at halftime but were outscored 52-33 in the second half. Eian Baumann scored 13 points in the half but Shiocton answered with 16 points from Austin Van Den Bosch to pull away late.

Baumann was Crivitz’ top scorer with 20 points while Jaden Werner dropped 12 and Chandler Kaldenberg added 11. Van Den Bosch led Shiocton with 24 points, Derek Bedor chipped in 13 while Deven Bedor and Corbin Lorge each finished with 12.
