GREEN BAY — The M&M Thunder high school hockey team competed at the Wrobel Cup Tournament over the weekend and returned home with one win and two losses.

Missing two starters, the Thunder dropped game one to the De Pere JV team 8-4 on Friday. Brayden Roberts powered in an unassisted goal to tie matters up at 1 early in the second period, but a five minute penalty and a 10 minute misconduct penalty depleted the Thunder even further and led to a five-goal onslaught from De Pere. Carson Collins scored at the end of the second to make it a 7-2 game before Adam Lemery found the back of the net off an assist from Brandon Bruning, who then scored himself thanks to an assist by Jason Bowers, that made the score 7-4. De Pere tacked on a final empty-net goal to seal the victory. Goalie Evan Casey tallied 19 saves in the loss.

In game two on Saturday, the Thunder fell to Shawano 10-4. Mason Denney took an assist by Jacob Pantti for a goal, Lemery scored with an assist by Joey Danielzak, and Collins added an unassisted goal to tie matters up at 3-3 after the first period. Collins tacked on another unassisted goal, but the final two periods were dominated by Shawano while Casey recorded eight saves in the loss.

The Thunder picked up their first win of the tourney on Sunday, taking down Appleton North 3-2 in overtime. Simon Bowers found the net thanks to an assist by Cole DeWitt to put the Thunder ahead early, then Jason Bowers scored off an assist from Roberts and Kennison Boivin to give the Thunder a 2-0 lead. 20 minutes of penalty time assessed to the Thunder allowed Appleton to tie the game up as time expired in the third period, but Lemery took an assist from Jason Bowers and scored to give the Thunder the victory.

The Thunder hosts Marquette on Sunday at the REC Center at 11 a.m.
