CRIVITZ — The Crivitz wrestling team had little success outside the higher weight divisions on Thursday.

The Wolverines managed four match wins against Three Lakes-Phelps, but forfeits and losses in the lighter weight classes helped the visitor to a 48-24 win.

Tony Jopek (145), Jaden Bemis (182), John Danielson (220) and Joseph Tomaszewski (285) earned the Wolverines’ wins in the matchup, accounting for all 24 points. Jopek earned a win by pin over Ezekiel Logalbo in 3 minutes, 45 seconds to get Crivitz on the board.

By way of three forfeits and a win by pin before the 145 match, Three Lakes-Phelps built a 24-0 lead. But forfeits by Crivitz at 152, 160 and 170 essentially assured Three Lakes-Phelps the team win.

Bemis and Danielson got wins via forfeit while Tomaszewski needed just 2:52 to pin Aaron Bird for the Wolverines’ second match win by pin.

The Wolverines go to Wabeno for an invitational that includes Coleman and Menominee on Saturday.
