For the second week in a row, the Menominee girls basketball team is on top of Division 1-3 in the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association polls.

The Maroons (8-0) have a big home game coming up on Thursday against fourth-ranked West Iron County (6-1), a team that the Maroons lost to 49-48 on a buzzer beater up in Iron River a season ago.

In addition to the No. 1 ranking in U.P., Menominee also earned itself the No. 7 spot in the state of Michigan in Division 2 in the second week of voting — up three spots from the 10th place ranking the Maroons received last week.

The Iron Mountain (Division 1-3) and Dollar Bay (Division 4) boys remain on top of their respective polls and the St. Ignace girls still man the top spot in Division 4.
