MENOMINEE — The Menominee boys JV basketball came back from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime and went on to win 57-54 in in the extra period.

“I’m really proud of how the guys played and never gave up tonight,” Menominee coach Justin Salzman said. “Our energy picked up late in the third and it continued in the fourth. We forced some turnovers and made some plays.”

Menominee sent the game into overtime after setting up a play for Brady Schultz in a timeout. Schultz came out and sank a 3-point shot to tie the game at 49.

“Brady said he was ready for it and he went out and made a great shot,” Salzman said.

The Maroons made 6-of-11 free throws in overtime to close the door on the Red Robins and come away with the win.

Zach Starzynski scored a game-high 21 points for Menominee; Schultz had 11; Michael Dobbins III and Hunter Shepeck added seven; Brady Waara and Trent Albert had four and Andrew MacIntyre had three.
