LENA — Despite holding Elcho to just six points in the first half, the Lena girls basketball team dropped a 38-28 decision on Friday.

Katie Slowik had a game-high 15 points for Elcho, which erased a seven-point halftime deficit by scoring more in the second half (32) than Lena had in the game.

Brianna Spratlin led the Wildcats with seven points and added five rebounds. She helped Lena take a 13-6 lead into the half. However, the Wildcats couldn’t match scores with the Hornets in the second half.

Lena went 10-for-40 from the floor as a team and sank just one of its six 3-point attempts. While the Hornets finished 0-for-9 from behind the arc, they were 13-for-27 from the floor and made 12 of their 17 free throw attempts.

Alayna Peterson added six points and three steals for Lena; Chloie Potter had five points and Meckenna Porteir had two points with six rebounds.

The Wildcats (0-1) play at Gillett on Tuesday.
