KIMBERLY, Wis. — Sean Holk led the Marinette wrestling team to a top-5 team finish on Saturday.

Holk won all five of his matches in the 170-division of the Papermaker Invitational, giving the Marines 49.5 team points toward their 331.5 total, which placed them third. Kimberly hosted and won the event with 414 points; Ashwaubenon was second with 361.

Holk won his first three matches by pin, starting with a 28-second match against Sun Prairie’s Yusef Nolley. A 59-second win over Deiondre Williams (Kimberly) and 69-second win over Brady Wagner (Berlin) assured Holk a spot in the championship bracket.

He reached the 1st-place match by defeating Tye Bader (Dodgeland-Juneau) by technical fall and had to go the distance in the final. Holk edged Terry Myadze (Princeton) in a 12-10 decision.

Marinette got additional top-5 division finishes from O.J. Suennen (126), Isaiah Walker (132) Josh Walker (145) and Reese Holder (220).

Suennen won three consecutive matches before arriving in the 3rd-place match with a loss in the opening round of the championship bracket. He defeated Mick Kiernan (Ashwaubenon) in a 4-0 decision to claim third.

Josh Walker won his opening two matches before back-to-back losses, the second coming in the 3rd-place match to put him fourth in his division. Holder, meanwhile, followed two byes with a 2-1 decision win over Trent Allaback (Appleton North) and consecutive losses that followed put him fourth.

Isaiah Walker recovered from a second-round loss with three consecutive wins, including a win by technical fall in the 5th-place match.

Kimberly managed top-5 finishes in nine of the 15 weight divisions to edge the Jaguars in the team standings despite Ashwaubenon claiming 1st-place finishes in four divisions.

Marinette hosts Clintonville on Tuesday.
