MARQUETTE, Mich. — Josie Hofer shot her career-best score and led the Menominee girls golf team to another commanding victory at Marquette Golf Club on Wednesday.

Hofer shot a 94 to garner medalist honors, and the Maroons had four scores in the top five to win the meet with a score of 395, 73 strokes in front of second-place Negaunee.

Arikah Bellisle took second with a season-best score of 98, Emma Hofer was third with a 100 and Madison Derusha shot 103 to take fourth. Olivia Badker carded a 122 for the fifth score and Emma Antilla shot 123 on Menominee B.

For the boys, Andrew MacIntyre shot 84 to take fifth and Brady Badker came in with an 87 to take sixth. Cooper Conway carded a 112 and Kade Lesperance finished with a 120 for a team score of 403 to come in third. Joe Haire’s 124 was thrown out.

“If the girls can keep this momentum going we have a good shot at doing well again (today),” Menominee coach Tony Hofer said. “The team and individuals have a lot on the line so hope they can keep hitting it well. 395 is a great score in the cold, wet and windy conditions we faced. The boys had some bright spots with Brady and Andrew playing much better than they did Monday and Kade having his best nine holes of the year.”

The top four scores for the boys were all shot by Marquette golfers. Jordan Jurmu shot a 74 to take medalist honors, Tyler Bergwall had a 78 and Ethan Sellers and Joe Luke shot 83s. Marquette won with a score of 318.

Both the boys and the girls teams will compete at the Great Northern Conference final meet today at the same course.
