MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Marquette University junior Hunter Eichhorn added another award to his growing list of accomplishments on the Golden Eagles golf squad.

The Carney native joined teammate Tyler Leach and 23 other golfers on the PING All-Midwest Region 2019-2020 team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Eichhorn won two events in his junior season, was Marquette’s top golfer in five of seven events, and was named Big East Male Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 12. In one of his wins at the Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms, he flirted with the tournament record of 205, coming it at 6-under 207.

His next win came at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills with a 7-under 209 for his fourth career collegiate win and becoming just the second Marquette golfer to win the home event. At the conclusion of Marquette’s final tournament of the fall schedule, the Hoakalei CC Invitational in ‘Ewa Beach, HI where he tied for 14th with a 4-under 212, he was ranked 35th in the nation by Golfstat.

In one tournament in the spring season before spring sports were cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Eichhorn birdied four of his first seven holes in his final round to get himself to a tie for 45th at 4-over-par 220 after struggling in the first two rounds.

Eichhorn had a career-best 70.81 scoring average this season, shooting par-or-below in 14 of 21 rounds and also holds the school’s lowest career scoring average of 71.5. He has 20 career rounds in the 60s and a career low of 65 which he has done three times.
