GREEN BAY — Amanda Majewski (Menominee) scored 15 points for the Lakeland College women’s basketball team in a 77-70 win over Concordia-Wisconsin in overtime on Tuesday.

The Muskies scored the game’s first points and held the lead until the midway point of the second quarter. Concordia went on an 11-3 run to take its first lead but the game entered halftime with a 30-30 tie.

Lakeland held a 51-47 lead to start the fourth quarter but trailed 63-62 with under 90 seconds remaining. A pair of Majewski free throws gave the Muskies a 66-63 lead with just 17 seconds remaining though a Concordia 3-pointer tied the game and forced overtime.

Majewski sank three free throws in the final 20 seconds of overtime, helping the Muskies secure the win. She also had nine rebounds, two assists and a steal for Lakeland. Megan Will led the team with 27 points.

Lakeland improved to 5-2 overall on the season and host Marian University on Saturday.


Marcus McKenney (Menominee) scored 13 points and added five rebounds for Bay College in a 113-91 win over Alpena Community College on Tuesday.

The Norse trailed by nine points multiple times in the first half, until going on an 11-0 run capped by a McKenney layup to give the Norse a 41-38 lead. They added to that lead and took a 51-42 lead into the second half.

Alpena briefly brought the deficit under 10 points but the Norse limited it to just 12 points in the final six minutes to end with the 22-point advantage.

McKenney was one of seven Bay College players to reach double digits in points in the win, which improved to 7-4 overall and play at Harper College tonight.
