PULASKI, Wis. — The trip was efficient and fruitful for the Coleman wrestling team on Saturday.

The Cougars went to Pulaski for the Red Raider Duals and earned five head-to-head wins on the day, making them the top team of the invitational. They earned wins over Pulaski, Two Rivers, West De Pere, Hortonville and Freedom.

Eight Coleman wrestlers went undefeated in their weight division and each of their wins was important in the opening-round win over the Red Raiders. Shamus McLain (182) and Jake Baldwin (152) earned wins by pin in the Cougars’ 40-27 win. A pair of one-point decision wins from Brock Martinson (285) and Chance Gruber (106) helped secure the victory.

McLain, Spencer Karban (220), Koltin Grzybowski (113) and Tyler Blanchard (170) won by pin in Coleman’s 53-23 decision over Two Rivers before the Cougars cruised to back-to-back wins in the next two matchups.

A 42-second pin by Baldwin and an 11-second pin by Blanchard highlighted Coleman’s 59-18 win over West De Pere. McLain, Bryce Karban (160) and Grzybowski also won by pin. Baldwin won his next match in 40 seconds, helping the Cougars to a 52-14 win over Hortonville. Gruber added Coleman’s other victory by pin.

In their final match of the day, Blanchard and McLain posted wins by pin in under a minute as the Cougars topped Freedom 46-30. Blanchard won in 53 seconds while McLain won in 57; Baldwin was close to doing the same but won by pin in one minute while Kasey Casper won in 1:06.

The Cougars go to Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Tuesday and host Escanaba on Thursday.
