CRIVITZ — Kasey Casper is heading back to University Ridge for the fourth time in his high school career, and this time, he’s taking his team with him.

And it all came down to the 18th hole.

Casper, a senior, needed to shoot bogey or better in order for his team to advance to state, and just like he has all season, Casper delivered with a par to lock up second place with a team score of 380. Pacelli won overall with a 342.

“My coach approached me before the last hole and told me the score I needed for us to move on,” Casper said. “Thankfully I hit my drive straight down the middle and chipped on to get an easy par. It’s a great feeling to be back at state for my fourth-straight year, but it’s even better to be bringing my little brother and the rest of my team with.”

Freshman Karson Casper carded a 94 to back up his older brother’s second-place score of 77. Sophomore Dylan Marquardt shot 103, junior Peyton Deering had a 106 and junior Conner DeWitt shot 119.

Oconto came in fourth as a team, but sophomore Will Sherman beat out Marathon freshman Noah Gage in a playoff hole to punch himself a ticket to state as an individual qualifier.

Senior Eli Lawrence led Crivitz with an 87; sophomore Ryley Bemis shot 101; junior David White carded a 111; sophomore Trey Franzen had a 112 and junior Mason Marvin shot 120.

Casper has played well at University Ridge over the years, but in his final season he only has one goal.

“I want to be standing on top of that podium to round out my high school career,” he said.
