ESCANABA — Brett LaFord was already regarded as one of the top boys basketball players in the U.P.

Now, he has been named one of the best in the state.

Carney-Nadeau’s 6-foot-1 senior point guard was selected to the Associated Press All-State second team in Division 4 Monday after leading the Wolves to a 15-7 season.

LaFord has already been named the Skyline Central Conference player of the year and an All-U.P. first team selection. He averaged 23 points and 10 rebounds per game this season, eclipsing the 1,000-point mark in a 62-56 win at Bark River-Harris Feb. 18. He scored over 30 points three times, including setting a new career-high with 40 in an 89-43 victory over Superior Central Jan. 28.

Making the first team from the U.P. are Dollar Bay’s Ashton Janke and Pickford’s Nick Edington. Janke was named the Division 4 Player of the Year in the U.P and a Dream Team selection.

Earning all-state honorable mention from the are Rapid River’s Tyler Sundling, Mid Peninsula’s Zach Englund and North Central teammates Luke Gorzinski and Noah Gorzinski.
