DETROIT — Menominee’s Emma Anderson has to make room for one more award from her stellar junior basketball season.

The Maroons’ 6-foot-3 post player was selected to the 2019-2020 Detroit Free Press Division 2 second team on Friday.

Anderson joins Harper Woods Chandler Parks’ Emaia O’Brien, Freeland’s Kadyn Blanchard, Cadillac’s Molly Anderson and Onsted’s Mya Hiram on the second team. Escanaba’s Nicole Kamin and Gladstone’s Megan Crow were each given a spot on the honorable mention list as the only other Upper Peninsula representatives in Division 2.

Westwood’s Tessa Leece was chosen to the Division 3 second team and Carney-Nadeau’s Tessa Wagner was honored with a spot on the Division 4 honorable mention list.

For U.P. boys, Iron Mountain’s Foster Wonders and Marcus Johnson both earned a spot on the Division 3 first team while Ashton Janke of Dollar Bay was selected to the Division 4 first team and Brad Simonsen of Houghton was named as the captain of the Division 2 first team.

C-N’s Brett LaFord and Pickford’s Nick Edington were chosen to the Division 4 second team and in Division 2, Esky’s Carter Hudson and Peyton Fedell and Gladstone’s Rane Castor earned honorable mention slots.

Tyson Acuff of Detroit Cass Tech, Ypsilanti Lincoln’s Emoni Bates, Benton Harbor’s Scooby Johnson (captain), Flint Beecher’s Jalen Terry and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Lorne Bowman II were named to the boys Dream Team.

On the girls Dream Team is Detroit Renaissance’s Kailee Davis, Detroit Edison’s Gabrielle Elliot (captain), East Lansing’s Aaliyah Nye, Adrian Lenawee Christian’s Bree Salenbien and Hartland’s Whitney Sollom.
