EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — Harry Belongy of Menominee participated in the Journeys Marathon 10K walk/run in Eagle River on May 11.

Belongy, the oldest competitor coming in at 81 years young, took 84th-place out of 105 runners of all ages and genders. He finished the race in 1 hour, 26 minutes, 26 seconds for a pace of 13:55 per mile.

“I represented our senior citizen community well,” he said. “I just finished behind a few kids.”

Those kids he mentioned were all between the ages of 35-65, and they only finished between one and 10 minutes ahead of him.

The winner of the 10K, Michael Kranz, set a new course record by finishing in 41:25.
