TOWNSEND — Red Arrow Snowmobile-ATV Club of Townsend and Paul Bunyan Riders Snowmobile Club of Lakewood are sponsoring a Wisconsin DNR certified Snowmobile Safety Course.

The course will be held at the Red Arrow Clubhouse at 16712 Hummingbird Hill Lane in Townsend. The class meets Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This will be a single-day class with the student handbook mailed to each student two weeks prior to class. Registration will close Oct. 24. Class size is limited, so sign up early.

Everyone is welcome to attend the course with a recommended minimum age of 11 1/2. Those born after Jan. 1, 1985, and at least 12 years old must have Snowmobile Safety Certification to operate on public areas. If a student is under the age of 16, the certification must be obtained in a classroom setting — there is no online class availability. Parents and adults are encouraged to enroll and participate. Fees for the course are $10 per student. Fee is waived if the student, parents or grandparents are members of Red Arrow or Paul Bunyan Riders. There is no actual snowmobile operation for the class — classroom only.
