MARINETTE — Day 1 of the Cabela’s National Walleye Tour is in the books and the fish have been registered.

Pro angler John Hoyer of Orono, Minn. and co-angler John Herd of Alexandria, Minn. are in the lead after registering five fish for a total of 41.37 pounds. Korey Sprengel of Beaver Dam, Wis. and his co-angler, Phelps, Wis.’s Jim Mergen, are in second place weighing in at 39.68 and Joe Okada (pro) of Cambridge, Wis. and Chris Staebell of Eldridge, Iowa are in third at 38.19.

Local fisherman Bill Marklein of Menominee came in at 4.69 with his partner, Mario Nanna of De Pere, to set up in 84th place after the first day of competition.
