MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office-Marine Division will be sponsoring a boating safety class at the Menominee Marina from Monday, July 22 through Wednesday, July 24.

Participants must attend classes on all three days, and sessions will run from 6 to 9 p.m.

The class is open to the public from the age of 11.5 years old and up and is necessary for anyone born on or after July 1, 1996, to operate a motorboat (powered by a motor of more than six horsepower) by themselves.

Persons born after December 31, 1978, must also have passed this class in order to legally operate a personal watercraft (PWC). Parents and other adults are welcome to and encouraged to attend.

The certificate issued upon successful completion of the class is accepted in all 50 states, so Wisconsin residents are welcome to attend. Please register by calling the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office-Marine Division at 906-863-4441 ext. 412 or 800-236-0242 ext. 412.
