OCONTO — An Oconto area woman died Friday as the result of a two-vehicle crash on a state highway in Oconto County.

According to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup driven by a 30-year-old male from the Lena area was traveling west on Highway 22 towing a skidsteer on a trailer and negotiating a curve when the pickup crossed the centerline and struck a car driven by a 53-year-old woman from the Oconto area. The woman died at the scene and the man was transported to a local hospital, Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban said in a press release.

The crash happened at 11:02 p.m. Friday at Logtown Road in the Town of Oconto.

The investigation is being conducted by the sheriff’s office, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office. The sheriff’s office was assisted by those agencies, along with the Oconto Police Department, Oconto Fire Department and Oconto Highway Department.
