PESHTIGO — The Peshtigo Police Department, in cooperation with the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department and the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office, is investigating sexting among students in the Peshtigo school district.

Peshtigo Police Chief Richard Badgley said he received complaints Thursday about sexting on cell phones and other devices that include d exchanging of photos.

Badgley said these photos can be considered child pornography, and if convicted a person could face a potential prison sentence ranging from 3 ½ to 25 years, plus fines and other penalties.

Badgley urges parents to be diligent and check their kids’ phones to see what they have on them.

Investigation by the Peshtigo Police Department and other agencies is continuing.
