MENOMINEE — Menominee County has tentatively scheduled the opening of the campgrounds at Shakey Lakes Park, Kleinke Park, and River Park for May 16, unless otherwise ordered by the State of Michigan that the campgrounds must remain closed beyond this date.

Reservations may be made May 18 at 7 a.m. and must be made by phone at 906-753-4582.

At this time, there is no limit on the number of reservations any single person can make; however, all reservations will have to be paid in full within 10 days or they are forfeited.

Lessees that have seasonal leases that usually begin May 1 will have the option to receive a refund for two weeks or to extend their lease two weeks longer in the fall. Park staff will be reaching out to those effected over the next several weeks to discuss the options and make adjustments as necessary.

At this time, no reservations will be taken for pavilion rentals at any of the Menominee County parks. Other amenities typically offered at our parks may also be limited. All park patrons will be asked to continue to adhere to social distancing practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and to limit the size of their camping parties to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Additional questions should be directed to Jason Carviou, County Administrator, at 906-863-9648 or by email at
