Two dead in Town of Lena crash

LENA — Two people died as a result of a two-vehicle accident Thursday in the Town of Lena.

The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatch Center was notified of the crash at 5:35 p.m, Thursday, according to a press release.

An SUV was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 141, near the ramp to County Trunk A, and it collided with a truck that was traveling southbound in the southbound lanes, the release states.

Both drivers, a 73-year-old De Pere man, who drove the truck, and a 59-year-old Oconto Falls woman, who was driving the SUV, were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the truck, a 70-year-old De Pere woman was transported to the hospital.

A secondary accident involving two other vehicles also occurred at the scene, as a result of the first accident, the release states. This crash did not result in injuries.

The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting an investigation into the traffic crash.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Oconto Falls rescue services and the Lena Falls Fire Department.

Absentee ballots available in Menominee

MENOMINEE — Absent voter ballots for the Presidential Primary Election on March 10 are available in the Menominee City Clerk/Treasurer’s Office.

Voters no longer need a reason to vote absentee, however, city hall will need to see a photo ID if voters are applying for or voting absentee in person at city hall.

For this election, voters will need to select a ballot with Democrat candidates and proposals, Republican candidates and proposals, or a ballot without Presidential Primary candidates but contain proposals.

Date of Beat Cabin Fever day corrected

STEPHENSON — In the Jan. 29 edition of the EagleHerald in a brief on page A6, the brief incorrectly stated the date for an event at the Menominee County Library. The brief said the library is having a Beat Cabin Fever with Family Fun Day Feb. 10 which is incorrect. The Beat Cabin Fever Family Fun Day is Feb. 8.
