Name of accident victim released

OCONTO — The Oconto County Sheriff’s Department has identified the girl who died in a single-vehicle accident Friday in the Town of Abrams.

September Deneys, 14, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old Sobieski man that went off the road at 7:19 p.m. on Sampson Road, about a half-mile east of East Frontage Road and County Trunk D in the town of Abrams.

The vehicle went into the ditch, where it struck two trees.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Deneys was found pinned in the back seat of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old man from Oconto Falls was also found in the back seat. The sheriff’s department reports that the two men were transported to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The initial report from the sheriff’s department indicated speed to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
