With the many Memorial Day cemetery activities canceled, the following day, May 26, was a wonderful tribute at the Marinette County board meeting recognizing the 75th anniversary of the ending of World War II.

Roy Bert spoke of the thousands of military personnel who made our freedom and lifestyle we enjoy today. His remarks were inspiring. Remarks made by Supervisor Sauve about the history of the war where he stated the sacrifices of over 400 military personnel lost, which proved freedom is not free. Each county board was given a small American flag to remember the ending of World War II. Famous singer Lee Greenwood and the Army chorus singing “God bless the USA,” was played to conclude the segment of the official county board meeting. It was truly inspiring. Many thanks and most thankful of chairman Guarisco to have this short segment part of the monthly county board meeting.
