Dear Editor,

There is a crisis looming and it’s not climate change.

The society’s push for college and the lack of competent and dependable workers will become the problem of the future.

There is an acute shortage of people in the building trades: Carpenters, electricians, plumbers, pipe fitters, boilermakers, operating engineers, brick layers and insulators. The average age of over the road truck drivers is 58.

Your business degree becomes obsolete when the business closes due to the lack of workers, skilled or unskilled, and the lack of transportation to get necessary supplies to the business.

The insufficient skills to build anything will surely affect cost and construction time and “business as usual” will take on a new meaning.
