Dear Editor,

I read in Wednesday’s EagleHerald’s fine print in the city council meeting minutes that the city (of Marinette) is going to eliminate the monthly junk pick up. If the city residents don’t complain, they should. If they decided to go with it monthly or annual, our taxes for garbage pickup should be lowered by the amount they plan on saving. To eliminate a service that is provided the is provided the residents fairly deserve a tax cut.

I won’t be surprised if this is passed. Then you can expect people to dispose of junk in vacant lots around town. Just how will this be policed then?

People need to write in and let the council people and the mayor know that we don’t like it and if the city is saving money doing so, we, the taxpayers, should also see a savings or reduced $10 tax on our water bill.
