Dear Editor,

I just recently received my monthly water bill and noticed it was quite a bit higher than normal. I see again the Water & Waste Department is charging their customers $10 for garbage.

I am protesting and actually challenging this practice of charging the public for garbage when in reality the water department has nothing to do with the collection of garbage. The fact that they have been doing this for years as past practice is not an excuse and may actually be illegal. The residents are due a credit for all the years this illicit charge has been going on without being resolved.

The Water Department has never picked up garbage to my recollection and I pay taxes for this service already. I believe this act of charging for service that is not provided is simply a way to increase revenues fraudulently on the backs of the residents. What’s next? Charge for the air we breathe?
