Dear Editor,

The fifth-grade teachers and students at Blesch Intermediate School would once again like to thank the Menominee Kiwanis Club for their generous donation of money to purchase our assignment planners for the next school year. They did this even though no one knows what school is going to look like next year. Will we be in school, learning from home, or a combination of both? The Kiwanis Club understands that our students still need a tool for organization and planning. They have been donating the funds needed for these planners for many years. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Menominee Kiwanis, so very much.

Please support the Kiwanis when you get the opportunity. They raise money through their popcorn sales, yearly golf outing and other events. They are very generous in their donation of time and volunteer hours given to support our community, funds given to support local causes, and scholarships for high school students. We are so fortunate to have this wonderful group of volunteers! The coronavirus may put a dent in their fundraising events this year, so please support any activities that come up this year.

Lastly, and maybe most importantly, please consider joining this wonderful group of volunteers. They are always looking for new members with fresh ideas. They need help in the form of time from volunteers to keep doing the great things they do. These are truly the nicest people you would ever want to be on a committee with — they are former teachers, coaches, local business people and more, and they are all super friendly and easy to work with. If you are looking for a way to feel good about helping your community, then you should go to one of their meetings. See what it’s all about. They used to meet every Tuesday at 6:45 a.m. at Perkins. Please contact a member of the Kiwanis to find out the current status of how meetings are held. If you are interested in this very rewarding opportunity, then attend a meeting soon.

Thanks again, Menominee Kiwanis Club!
