Sharon Ann Gignac, 58, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Aurora Medical Center Bay Area. The former Sharon Ann Duca was born on Jan. 17, 1961, in Menominee to Allan “Joe” and Patricia (Sandahl) Duca.
On Sept. 13, 1985, Sharon married Timothy Gignac at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee.  Always the charmer, Sharon juggled multiple jobs in her life (including KSG and the YMCA), and her most cherished duty was that of being a wife, mother and grandmother. You couldn’t walk away from a hug from Sharon without feeling complete, welcomed, loved and knowing everything was going to be okay. She had a way with words and never missed an opportunity to call and listen to whomever was on the other end of the line. Sharon found true joy in art, Coco Chanel perfume, the perfect cup of coffee (with two ice cubes), bird watching, watering plants and spending time with her husband, kids and grandkids. During her battle with cancer, she found peace in having long talks with Tim, decorating their cottage for Christmas, and loving her dog, Rufus. Her continued perseverance brought her through the battle, and she beat cancer — something she was thrilled to share. If you were lucky enough, Sharon would give her wisdom and guidance on many subjects like her Catholic faith, the simple life, and being a Master Gardener. As a grandmother, Sharon cherished picked flowers, a painting lesson from the kids, and holding them safe in her arms, with a huge grin on her face. They knew that a visit to “nana with the racecars’” house meant a fun day filled with candy, laughs and love. Although Sharon was fighting many battles in life, her attitude and joie de vivre or “joy of living” easily changed the perspectives of many, especially her husband and kids. No matter what happens in life, love is always the answer.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Tim Gignac; son, Ben Gignac (girlfriend, Laura Cyrek); her daughters: Erin (Steven) Noha and Libby (Nick) Theuerkauf; mother and father: Patricia and Allan “Joe” Duca; grandchildren: Evelyn, Otto and Eden Theuerkauf; siblings: Peggy (Wayne) Stoop, Judy (Doc) Solander, Jane (Mike) Anderson, John (Laura) Duca, Lisa (David) Hansley, Bill (Mina) Duca and Jay (Amy) Duca; and mother-in-law and father-in-law: Judy and Richard Gignac.
Visitation will take place at Anderson Kell Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, beginning at 1 p.m. The vigil prayer service will begin at 4 p.m., with Deacon Vince Beckley presiding.
