Robert “Bob” G. Schacht, 93, of Marinette, Wis., passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area. He was born on July 11, 1926, to the late George and Irene (St. Thomas) in Marinette.
  Bob graduated from Marinette High School in 1944 and enlisted to serve his country in the Army during World War II, and fought in Germany. He worked for Scott paper for 35 years and had served for eight years as the mayor of Marinette in the 90s. On June 5, 1948, Robert married Patricia Behnke in Marinette; she preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1981. On Aug. 1, 1981, Robert married Janice Sopkowicz in Marinette; she preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2002. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Marinette Elks Lodge, the VFW, and Scott Retirees. Bob enjoyed singing Barbershop, playing the accordion, fishing, hunting and the Packers and Brewers.
    Bob is survived by three sons: Jim (Debby) Schacht, Rick Schacht, both of Marinette, and Tom (Julie) Schacht of Ramsey, Minn.; two daughters: Ellen Basak and Karen Schacht both of Marinette; stepson, Bruce (Kathy) Sopkowicz; sister, Audrey Brodzinski of Marinette; eight grandchildren: and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and two wives, Patricia and Janice, he was preceded in death by good friends: Fred Schacht and Bob Purvayn.
    Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home on Monday, June 29, from 3 to 6 p.m. Military Honors will be provided at 6pm with the Military Twenty Year Club. Funeral Services to follow with Deacon Jerome Thetreau officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
