Marjorie “Marge” M. Nystrom, 64, of Marinette, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at home. She was born on Aug. 16, 1954, to the late Curtis and Barbara (Schwerzler) Vista in Marinette and graduated Marinette High School in 1973.
On Sept. 22, 1973, Marge married Michael Nystrom in Marinette. She had worked as a crossing guard for the Marinette Police Department for over 9 years. She was patient and passionate with a soft spot in her heart for animals, children and anyone who held a hand out in need, including telemarketers. She loved winter, which was a good thing living in Northeastern Wisconsin. She liked the snow and bare trees, probably because she felt sorry for them. She loved horseback riding, fishing, bowling, golf and anything she could do with family and friends, including BBQs, watching and cheering for the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks. She also loved playing board games especially Yahtzee and cards: pinochle, rummy, poker and smear. She was very proud of her three children and the grandchildren that came along with them.
Marge is survived by her husband of 45 years, Michael Nystrom of Marinette; two sons: Jason (Debbie) Nystrom and John Nystrom, both of Marinette; daughter, Stacy (Ken) Peterson of Green Bay; sisters: Linda Djupstrom, Penny Dobbins, both of Marinette, and Bonnie (George) Brissette of Porterfield; grandchildren: Robert, James, Joe, Josh, Sakara, Tim, Brendon and Bella; and great-grandchildren: Karsyn, Kayden, and Kylie; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Jr; and step father, Clifford Corey.
Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, from 4-6 p.m., with services to follow at 6 p.m.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hamdan and all of his staff at Aurora Cancer Center – Bay Area, Unity Hospice staff, and Thielen Funeral Home staff for their compassionate care and assistance walking through this journey.
