Marcia Foley Murphy, 83, passed away on May 16, 2019. She was born to John Joseph Foley and Constance Bostwick Foley in Menominee, Mich., on July 22, 1935.
Marcia graduated from Michigan State University and married Arold Thomas Murphy in 1957. Marcia spent a brief time teaching English in Milwaukee, Wis., before moving to St. Paul, Minn., and then onto Chicago, Ill., before settling in Denver in 1972. Marcia was a woman of spirit, kindness and wisdom. She was always cheerful, funny and a pleasure to be with. She had a wide variety of professional experiences and was never happier than when she was helping someone else. In Denver, Marcia was blessed with many dear friends and neighbors who brought her tremendous joy and support throughout her life. Marcia always considered Menominee home. She and Cynthia (“Pince”) Goldsberry, also of Menominee, were lifelong friends as were their mothers: Constance Bostwick and Dorothy Perry. Marcia spent almost 50 years of her life in Denver and always had time for her mother, her children and grandchildren, her neighbors, and her friends. Marcia enjoyed reading, was an avid fan of Denver’s professional sports teams, was a good (though perhaps reluctant) cook, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a patient and thoughtful listener who had compassion for everyone. She dearly loved all of her dogs and cats. She is survived by, Ada, a cat who was a warm and loving companion for the last years of her life.
Marcia is survived by her loving children: John (Amy Moeckly), Sheila (Ara Darakjian), Tim, Jane (Dale Lamphere), and Matt (Monica Pairett) and their children Aidan and Katie. She is also survived by many Moecklys and Lampheres.
Interment will be Friday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Menominee. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. in Marinette, Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 5, at N4194 Highway 180.  Friends and family are welcome.
