John P. Hartz, 72, of Marinette, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in Mineral Point, Wis. He was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Dubuque, Iowa, to the late Willy and Lillian (Howell) Hartz and graduated from Platteville High School in 1966.
    John worked at Giddings & Lewis for many years. He enjoyed traveling and seeing wildlife at zoos and parks. He volunteered at NEWCAP. John was grateful to have received a heart and kidney transplant twelve years ago.
     John is survived by a son, John (Nancy) of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Mary Ann (Clifford) Greenwood of Marinette; a brother, Raymond (Mary) of Platteville, Wis.; seven grandchildren: Samantha, Haley, Christian, Justin, John Holden, Rachel and Christopher; and 10 great-grandchildren: Bentley, Payton, Gabriella, Bailee, Prestin, Aris, Bo, Eeva, Alyssa and Lydia.
    Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., with Deacon Jerome Thetreau officiating.
    Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
