Joan Carley Holbook, 72, of Charlotte, Mich., passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, after a brief illness. Joan was born in Stevens Point, Wis., May 2, 1946, to the late William O. and Bernadine Carley.
In her early years, Joan graduated from Stevens Point High School in 1965 and later attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., majoring in drama. Joan lived a life full of unconditional love which she graciously shared with all those she met. She raised her daughters with 100 percent of her heart, which was truly her life goal. She was an artist, spreading happiness through her pottery, photography, acting, cooking, knitting, Jazzercise classes and hugs. Joan had an amazing sense of humor that could light up the darkest of times, so, in her honor, if you will smile at her memory, she will smile back at you and fill you with love.
Joan is survived by her daughters: Heather (Tom) Dyer and their children: Emmeline, Caleb and Elijah of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; Brea (Kimo Ozaki) Caley and their children: Basil and Azelea of Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii; and Catheryn (Laduma) Nguyuza and their children: Marley and Nia of Madison, Wis.; a sister, Dottie (Richard) Blenker of Stevens Point; and nieces: Kim and Kirsten.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Nazarene, 302 E. Lovett St., Charlotte, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to this Church of Nazarene.
