Ernest “Ernie” Stephan, 90, of Wausaukee, Wis., passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 5, 2019.  He was born to the late Richard and Ida (Schittek) Stephan Nov. 6, 1928, in Coleman, Wis.
    Ernie was a veteran of both the Army and the Air Force including serving in Vietnam and Korea. He was never without an amusing war story and a good laugh. Ernie worked in the Air Force as a load master where he became part of the service meals-on-wheels and later worked as a volunteer for Marinette Elderly Services meals-on-wheels for which he was the recipient of the Green Bay Packers Community Quarterback Award.
    Surviving are two sisters: Ellen Swenson and Donna Ziegler; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters: Helen (Jack) Walz, Emma (Kenneth) Boehmke, Adeline (Melvin) Ruud, Gertrude (Tom) Galbreath and Gertrude (Robert) Richards; three brothers: Melvin (Eve) Stephan, Richard Stephan and Robert Stephan; and two brothers-in-law: Jerry Ziegler and Loyal Swenson.
    The family will greet relatives and friends Sunday, June 9, at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 235 E. Main St., Coleman, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Lina Wittmann officiating. Military Honors will be given by the Coleman American Legion Post 280.
