Donald R. Whitton, 78, of Appleton, Wis. passed away on Dec. 21, 2018. Donald was born to the late Richard and Bertha Ardella (Gustafson) Whitton in Menominee, Mich. on Nov. 5, 1940.
  Don attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Menominee High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to the late Joyce Johnson in 1967 and spent 26 wonderful years together. Don served in the  United States Navy for four years. He was a skilled machinist at Zwicker Knitting and Voith Inc. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed camping and fishing. He was an active bike rider, even through cold winters. He was also a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
    Don is survived by two sons: Michael and Paul Whitton; two sisters: Carole and Marlea Whitton; a brother, Charles Whitton; and four nieces: Alisa Joseph Deutsch, Justine McCormick, Cheryl Buersmeyer and Laura Joseph.
    A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at the Wichmann-Fargo Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, by Brother Mike Aniol. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
