Dennis James Smejkal, 59, of Marinette, Wis., passed away peacefully at home, as was his wish, on Friday, May 15, 2020, with his wife, Lisa, at his side. He was born March 20, 1961, in Menominee, Mich., to James Smejkal III and Vivian Beattie (Chepeck).
   Dennis was a graduate of Menominee High School. Dennis married the former Lisa Race on July 25, 1981. Dennis was employed by Waste Management for over 30 years, starting out as a truck driver, working as a route manager and returning to truck driving. Deep down, Dennis really loved his job. He also loved his family very much and was very proud to be a grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his Harley.
    Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; three sons: Dennis Jr. (Ashley Laga) of Marinette, Joseph of Niagara and Casey (Araceli bello) also of Marinette; a brother, Scott; and sister, Roxann both of Menominee; grandchildren: Kaitlyn (and her mother, Heather Anderson), Dennis III and Ryder (and their mother, Sarah Emmer), Amorn, Mercedes and a new grandson due in October; a niece, Amanda Smejkal and her children, Grace and Misty; nephews: Jason Motto and daughter Aizley Motto, and Jesse Motto; his mother-in-law, Mary Race; and sister and brother-in-law: Lana and Dan Motto. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Bernard Race; and a niece, Dana Motto.
    Due to public health restrictions, no formal service will be held at this time.
