David James Carlson passed away Jan. 6, 2020, at Rennes West following a severe stroke. Born July 20, 1933, son of the late Elmer and Emma (LaPlant) Carlson, he grew up on the family farm where he developed his strong work ethic.  
    David graduated from Peshtigo High School class of 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 to serve his country. After returning from the military he worked at Sentinal Structures  and Thompson Boat in Peshtigo, then for Scott Paper Company retiring in 1995. David married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Walk on Aug. 9, 1958, in Peshtigo, Wis. Well known in the area as a small engine mechanic, he could repair anything with an engine. He enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling with family and friends.
     David is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; his children: Debi (Jim) DeMeuse, Dale (Michele) Carlson and Donna (Jerry) Kalafut; his grandchildren: Jen (John) Jacques, Jimmer (Megan) DeMeuse, Jaclyn (special friend, Tyler) DeMeuse, Josh (Dawn) Lepinski and John Kalafut; his great-grandchildren: Brayden and Anna Lepinski, Emma Jacques and one on the way. David is further survived by his siblings: Bob (Polly) Carlson of Green Bay, Dick (Eva) Carlson and Larry (Sherry) Polzin of Peshtigo. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald; and a grandson, Joel DeMeuse.
     Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 9, at Good Shepherd Church in Peshtigo from 2 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m., with Pastor David Murphy officiating.  
    Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Friday, 10 a.m., with military honors.
