Chester Marion Godlewski, 82, passed away peacefully in his home in Germantown, Wis., on May 6, 2019. He was born in Schaffer, Mich., on Dec. 26, 1936, to Verna (Pasczkiewicz) and Chester Godlewski who preceded him in death.
After proudly serving in the Navy, Chester was a life-long musician, playing the accordion with love and energy from dance halls in the 1950s to his community in the 2010s. He serenaded the ladies of Virginia Highlands for the past decade. He cherished listening to and collecting music as well. An avid fan of football and baseball, he was overjoyed to see his Cubs win the World Series in his lifetime.  Affectionately known as Chet and sometimes as Czeslaw (pronounced Chesh-ew), he was truly a character.
Chester was the loving father of Gina, Lori, Dawn, Douglas and Randy; proud grandfather of Adam, Cassie, Johnny and Michael; and great-grandfather of Ethan. He is survived by his loving siblings: Dorothy and Marcy; and brother-in-law Lee. He loved and spoke of all his nieces and nephews: Lisa, Cindy, Brian and Renee (Lauryn). He is re-united now with his parents and his beloved wife, Geraldine, as well as his brothers: Ed, Joseph and Edward; son, Douglas; daughter, Dawn; and grandson, Michael.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, May 18, 2019, at Lutheran Church of the Living Christ, W156N10660 Pilgrim Road, Germantown,  with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 2 p.m.
Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. at the Peshtigo Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo, Wis., on Friday, July 5, 2019.
A special thank you goes to Diana, Janet and Ethel at Virginia Highlands for their specialized care.
