Bernice A. Forslund, 95, longtime Marinette, Wis.,  resident, passed away March 25, 2020, at a Green Bay, Wis., hospital. She was born April 5, 1924, on the family farm in Porterfield, Wis., to Thomas and Myrtle (Peterson) Evancheck. 
Bernice grew up residing in the Evancheck family log cabin, now rebuilt on Stephenson Island as part of the Marinette County Historical Society Museum exhibits. She married Michael P. Forslund on April 3, 1943, at St. James Lutheran Church in Marinette. Bernice had worked part-time as a waitress and later in food service at the former Marinette General Hospital. She had been an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette where she chaired the church funeral luncheon committee, organized soup suppers and participated in Sew for Missions. Later in life, she earned her high school diploma through the Menominee High School adult learning program. Bernice had also been a member of the Marinette Woman’s Club and the Marinette County Historical Society, volunteering at the society’s museum during the summer season and always worked at the Marinette County Fair in Wausaukee.
Bernice is survived by a son, Dennis (Cheryl) Forslund of DePere, Wis.; and three grandsons: Michael “Mikey” Forslund, Justin Konyn and Jordan (Kristi) Forslund. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael P. Forslund; a son, Michael; a brother, Clarence Evancheck; and a sister, Grace Seefeldt.
Due to current public health concerns, a private family service was held with entombment in Forest Home Mausoleum in Marinette.
