Arlene Dorothy Hunt (Henke), 85, of Marinette, Wis., passed away quietly in her sleep Nov. 27, 2019. Arlene was born Dec. 13, 1933, on the John and Anna (Klitzke) family farm in the Town of Center, Outagamie, Wis. 
Arlene spent her early life on the farm and attended a one room schoolhouse, later graduating second in her Seymour High School class in 1951. On a full academic scholarship, she graduated summa cum laude earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1955. While attending the university, she met Jerry Hunt and they later married in 1956.  She remained married to him for the past 63 years. Upon graduating from college, she began teaching Family and Consumer Education at Beaver Dam High School. After moving to Green Bay, Wis., she substitute taught and then decided to stay at home to raise her children.  During this time, the couple moved to Marinette and bought Lundgren’s Pharmacy in 1966. Later, she taught sewing at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and then Family and Consumer Education for 12 years at Marinette Middle School until retiring in 1994. 
Arlene’s interests included perfecting her quilting skills, playing bridge and helping to create an all women stock club called “4 M”.  Arlene started and led a local Marinette group called Great Decisions, which still gathers to discuss foreign policy issues. She also served as president and served as an active member of the American Association of University Women. Arlene once taught English to migrant workers near Marinette.Other interests included bird watching, wildflowers, butterflies, making and flying kites and watching the waves on the bay. She also loved music, enjoyed the arts and traveling. Arlene was a member of St. James Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Arlene lived a good life, was a good daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was truly loved by her family and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and only sibling, Rita Volkman. Surviving her are husband, Jerry; sons: John (Dixie) of Marinette, David (Lisa) of Madison, Wis.; daughters: Anne Fugate (Dave) of Lansing, Mich. and Lisa of Wausau, Wis.; six grandchildren, two grandchildren through marriage and one great-grandchild.  
 The family will receive friends at the Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home on Friday, Dec. 6, from 2 until 4 p.m. A service will follow.
