Alphonse John Basak, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 6, 1927, in Beaver, Wis., to the late Valentine and Aniela (Yerz) Basak.
  On Feb. 14, 1953, he married Rosemary Fabiszak. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past February. He was drafted into the United States Army from July 1952 to July 1954. He served 18 months in Korea and was honorably discharged with the rank of a Corporal. Alphonse was a farmer who enjoyed fishing, gardening and anything that he could do outside. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War (VFW). Along with his wife, Rosemary, they raised six children who he was very proud of including 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
    Alphonse is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary; his children: Diana (Mark) Roach of Oxnard, Calif., Stanley (Jayna) of Menominee, Mich., Alphonse II (Mary) of Crivitz, Wis., Joseph (Janice) of Mosinee, Wis., and Dawna (Ronald) Coel of Tigerton, Wis.; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles; and 10 brothers and sisters.
    The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary’s Church in Crivitz on Monday, Sept. 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. The service will be at 11 a.m., with Father Frederick Sserugga officiating. Military rites to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
