MARINETTE — The Speaker's Task Force on Water Quality will be hosting a public hearing Thursday in Marinette. 

The Speaker's Task Force on Water Quality is a Wisconsin State Legislator committee created to "gather information and make policy recommendations to better assess and improve the quality of both surface water and ground water in our state," according to its website. 

Representatives from the American Chemistry Council, Department of Natural Resources and Department of Health Services, the River Alliance of Wisconsin, Marinette and Oconto counties, Johnson Controls and S.O H2O will speak during the hearing. Among the speakers include Marinette County Conservationist Greg Cleereman, Scott Wahl of Johnson Controls and Doug Oitzinger and Jeff Lamont, both representing S.O H2

Speaker's Task Force of Water Quality will also host a public hearing at 12:20 p.m., Wednesday at the Weidner Center in Green Bay.

The hearing held in Marinette will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday at the Herbert L William's Theatre, UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus. It is expected to run from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Members of the public will have the opportunity to speak after the invited speakers.
